Wu Dao School Rules

  1. Students and instructors must leave their ego at the door. Wu Dao is a place to learn and improve martial arts, not a place to show off or put others down.
  2. Instructors and students must bow when entering the training hall. This act demonstrates respect to the generations of martial artists who built the foundation of martial arts, the instructors, fellow students, and oneself. Mentally, it helps to prepare the student for putting all other aspects of life aside to focus on training.
  3. Once class has started students are not to leave class without first obtaining permission from an instructor.
  4. Students are expected to control themselves and their techniques at all times.
  5. Students and instructors will wear a well maintained and clean Wu Dao uniform at all times when training at the School. During non-class or open training times, a School T-Shirt or Tank-Top can be worn in place of a formal uniform top. No bracelets, chains, rings, loose hanging necklaces or other ornaments are to be worn by students while training.
  6. No student is to teach Wu Dao material, either inside or outside the School, without permission from an instructor.
  7. Students must show respect to instructors and fellow students. Head instructor is to be called Shi-Fu and Assistant instructors are to be called Shi-Shong when inside the training hall. Outside of the training hall, students may be more informal with instructors but must still be respectful.
  8. All weapons are to be kept clean and are to be treated with care and respect. Martial arts weapons are always to be regarded as "live" and are not to be played with. Weapons are not to be touched without obtaining prior permission from the owner.
  9. Students must not use their marital arts skills in any offensive way outside the School unless it is to protect themselves or others in extreme conditions (i.e., threat of violence).
