Getting Started!

Free Trial Class

At Wu Dao, we strive to ensure that students know what to expect when they sign up. All prospects are encouraged to visit the school, speak with an instructor, and students or parents, and attend a free trial class. While you are welcome to drop in at any time to observe a class, this does not give you as clear an idea of what to expect at Wu Dao as your active participation. For this reason, we encourage you to register for a free trial class before signing up as a student.

Registering

In order to ensure the quality of your free trial class, no more than two trials are permitted per class. Reserve your free trial by calling us at 617-812-2180 or e-mailing info@wudaokungfu.com.

  • Youth Program: E-mail your name, your child's name and age, phone number, and two or three class times that work for you. Your child will be registered for their free trial and you will receive an e-mail confirmation letting you know which class time your child was registered for.
  • Adult: E-mail your name, phone number, and two or three class times that work for you. You will be registered for your free trial and will receive an e-mail confirmation letting you know which class time you were registered for.
What To Expect:
  • Arrival Time: Please arrive at least fifteen minutes before class. If you do not show up for your reserved spot, then it may be given to a standby student. What to Wear: Comfortable workout clothing, socks, and a pair of clean workout shoes. Kung Fu and Tai Chi are traditionally practiced with shoes as training usually took place outdoors. If you do not have clean training shoes available, you may attend your free trial class barefoot, or ask to see if our recycled loaners have your size available.
  • What to Expect: The instructor of the class will meet you before class begins. Class will start with a warm up. Students will then be divided into groups to work on techniques, drills, and forms. Wu Dao students come from a variety background and have varying degrees of physical capability. We are quite certain that you will feel at home.
  • Basic Wu Guan Etiquettes: Please be on time. In Kung Fu classes, students line up according to rank as identified by the color of the logo on the sash. Should you arrive late or need to step out during class, please obtain permission from the instructor first. As a sign of respect to the instructors, other students, and the teachings of Chinese martial arts, all students should bow upon entering and exiting the training hall. The simplest form is bowing at the waist with hands on either side of the body.
  • What Else to Bring: It is recommended that you bring a water bottle and towel.
