Ages 13-17
Wu Dao’s Youth Tai Chi is a unique program that brings an art with over 700 years of tradition to life for young martial artists. Through the practice of Yang Style Tai Chi, students are challenged to pay close attention to body mechanics and structure. it also teaches valuable life lessons such as redirection of force.
Tai Chi Basics - The Instructor will work with students on exercises that explore the eight Basic Tai Chi Hand Techniques and the five Basic Steps. The Instructor will lead students through stationary and floor drills that will reinforce the correct motion in the performance of Tai Chi Movements. During this section, students will also have the opportunity to experiment with Push Hands, which is the two person practice that enables both students to experience applied Tai Chi, identify structural weaknesses, and appreciate the philosophy of the Tai Chi system.
Forms Practice - During Forms Practice, the Instructor will work with students on the forms they are learning. Students will practice what they have already learned and incorporate new movements into their forms. Students will have time to work individually on refining techniques and postures and receive assistance from the Instructor.
Current students, between the ages of 11 and 17 are welcome to join the Youth Tai Chi classes at no additional charge to their current membership.
